COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS) ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Patients,

**UPDATED 4-10-2020**The health and wellness of our patients is our top priority, and therefore, limiting the spread of COVID-19 in our community and among our most vulnerable members is of the utmost importance.

Space Center Primary Care will remain open if it is safe and in compliance with local government policy.  We currently will adhere to the following procedures:

  1. If you are having a life-threatening emergency, you must call 911 or go directly to your closest Emergency Department.

  2. We are currently not equipped to obtain samples for COVID-19 testing at this office. If appropriate, Dr. Wong will direct you to an appropriate testing site.

  3. We are using telemedicine whenever appropriate. Patients with cough and fever should not come to the clinic and will be arranged for a telemedicine visit (real-time video conferencing) with Dr. Wong to minimize illness exposure to others.

  4. Patients with general health issues or other acute illnesses will be offered a telemedicine visit as well. You may still be seen in the office by scheduling an appointment as usual and following social distancing guidelines and wearing a mask or face covering while here.

Additionally, all patients are encouraged to continue to adhere to the guidance from public health agencies on methods to limit transmission of COVID-19 including but not limited to the following:

  • Avoid gatherings of 10 or more people.

  • Maintain at least 6 feet of separation from other people not living in your household.

  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer when you can’t wash your hands.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue and throw the tissue away. If you don’t have a tissue, use the elbow of your sleeve. Don’t use your hands to cover coughs and sneezes.

  • Work or engage in schooling from home whenever possible.

  • CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies). The cloth face coverings recommended are not surgical masks or N-95 respirators. Those are critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders.

  • Avoid discretionary travel, shopping trips, and social visits.

  • Do not visit nursing homes or retirement or long-term care facilities unless to provide critical care situations.

Space Center Primary Care is the successor to Space Center Family Practice, which was established by Dr. Kin Chan in 1992 at this same location.
